This guide is for the moderation hack, when you set any member to be Moderated it will mean that their post will have to be approved by an Admin Or Moderator (depending on which settings you use) before the rest of the members can read it.
Any member can be placed and taken off Moderation By An Admin and By a Moderator (again depending on which settings you use).
So why use it ? First of this would stop your members and guests (depending if guests are allowed to view) from seeing possible spam bots and or Trolls posts. By setting all new members post to be moderated it would keep your forum looking spam bot clean. Also if you have a problem with a member but do not wish to ban them setting them to be moderated will stop them from posting nasty messages that members would normally be able to read.
Examples are shown at the end of this guide.
Please remember to use the Editor account before making any template changes
Second you must have all ready a template you can edit.
Ok all that done you now goto Your admin panel --- 3. Styles --- Portal Settings
You will now see a screen that looks like this
If you do not already see a portal named MODERATION then (if you do then IGNORE The Steps 1-4)
1.Click on the Blank box icon that looks like this
Now you see a screen like this
2.Add MODERATION to the name
3.And then what you want in the Title.
4. Click Create New Portal
5. Ok all that done you now goto Your admin panel --- 3. Styles --- Portal Settings
Click on MODERATION
You will now see this screen.
You now need to set this to how you like.
Title = The name of the portal
Show Title = Yes = show title No = do not show title.
Moderate new members Yes = Every new member will be on moderation. No = Every new member will not be.
Can Mods remove moderation status? Yes = Mods can take someone off of Moderation. No = Only Admins Can Take members off of Moderation.
Allow private messages Yes = people on Moderation can still send PM`s to everyone. No = They can not send PM`s
Allow private messages to users Yes = They will be able to send PM`s to an Admin Or Mod Only. No = They can not send any PM`s To an Admin or Mod.
Moderated Display This is the area where you can customise the message that Moderated members will see, After they have posted on the forum.
Moderated pm message This is the area where you can customise the message that Moderated members, that are not allowed to send PM`s, will see when they try to send a PM.
Prefix For advanced Users Only it is best to leave as it is.
Suffix For advanced Users Only it is best to leave as it is.
Unmoderate post message This is the area where you can customise the message that your Admin and Moderators will see, when reading a post from a user set on moderation. This message is for the release of a post from moderation
Unmoderate user message This is the area where you can customise the message that your Admin and Moderators will see, when reading a post from a user set on moderation. This message is for the release of a User from moderation.
Signature Threshold Enter the number of post you want the user to reach before their sig shows. (Minimum posts before sig will be shown).
Blocked sig message Enter your message here that will be Shown in place of a blocked signature
Homepage Threshold Enter the number of post the user nmust reach before their profile homepage will be shown, 1 is the minimum threshold recognised here. (this will mean no link to there home profile will show until they reach teh required amount of posts).
Private message Threshold Enter the number of posts the user must reach before private messages can be sent.
PM not allowed message Enter your message here that will be Shown when a user tries to send a PM and has not crossed the required amount of posts.
Link posting Threshold Enter the number of posts required before a user`s posted links will be shown. (A posted link is a link to another website or page)
Blocked link message Enter your message her which will be Shown in place of a blocked link.
Link removal How tough to be on blocked links. You have 3 options.
1. Remove link and link text if it is an address.
2. Remove link and any associated link text.
3. Remove link only
Now Where To Set A Member to be on Moderation
Goto admin panel --- 4. Users --- Users List -- the Member you wish to place on Moderation (Please remember that if you have already set all new members to be on moderation then you do not have to do it again in this area, unless you have taken them off of Moderation and wish to reset them to be Moderated). Now click on Edit
Now look at the bottom in the area marked Special admin-only fields As shown below
Now in the area marked Users posts will be moderated (see moderated portal for moderation policy) make sure this is ticked.
