The first thing you need to do is log in to your

Forum Control Panel

You will find the link to this in your admin panel

First of all you need to sign in with your forum name only not address so for

http://howtodoit.myfreeforum.org

You only enter

howtodoit

And then enter the password used to set up the forum.

You will now see a screen like this.

Click on the pPhpbb3/Phpbb2 Tab

You will now see this screen

It is important that you read EVERY thing on this page before you continue.

When you have done so you can click on the "Create/upgrade a Phpbb3" Link

You will now be taken to the conversion page.

Again please read the notes on that page before clicking on the convert tab.

On this screen click on convert.

On this screen you have some choices to be made.

It is best to keep both switches to NO for the first time conversion.

If everything is ok you will now see this screen.

Now click on begin conversion.

At this screen click on begin conversion.

You will now see this screen (I have split it in too two pictures as it is so long) wait for the "Starting Conversion Process" to both show DONE

Now scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see as below.

Now click on Process Final Step

You will now see this screen .

You will now be lead though around 14 pages each time please just keep clicking

When all is done you will see this error page about the search . Do not worry about it as it is standard. However there is an important message on there so please read it.

Ok once done click on the Login To Your Board Link

You will now see your new PHPBB3 forum.

Once and only once you are happy with everything, you will need to relogin to the forum control panel and click add force. Again before doing so please read the notice.

DO NOT SWITCH THE SWITCH UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY, TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE IGNORING THIS AND SWITCHING STRAIGHT AWAY. DOING THIS WILL MEAN YOU WILL LOSE YOUR NORMAL FORUM LINK FOR A POSSIBLE 48 HOURS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
