First thing first upload your logo as explained here change Logo

Now you have to goto overall_header.tpl and find the entry for the logo it should look something like this

             <td align="center" width="100%" valign="middle"><span class="maintitle">{SITENAME}</span><br /><span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br /></span>
</td>
 


Now this shows the entry for a logo that would appear on the far top left as like on this forum.

This is how the text looks after i have centered the same logo on the same template.



Replace the top code with the code below remember to change the url for the logo
